What does IMBIES mean?
When you sign up for a blog, you have to pick a name. The entire balance of your blog's success or failure can hinge on this simple detail. OK, maybe not, but staring slack-jawed at my computer screen thinking "Ummmm..." I felt I had to come up with something brilliant. Instead I came up with IMBIES. Have you ever heard the phrase Not In My Back Yard, sometimes referred to as NIMBY? IMBIES is a play on that. IMBIES is a collection of photos, essays, designs and random tidbits culled from the proverbial back yard of my life.
About IMBIES
My friends urged me to chronicle my transition from big city, civilian life to small town, Army life. At first IMBIES was a way for me to share all sorts of wackiness that I came across from ridiculous signs to wacky sights (with a pretty view thrown in here or there). IMBIES captures some of my favorite moments along the route from Manhattan, NY to Manhattan, KS... with a few side trips thrown in.Recently I have taken to including written work and graphic design. In addition to sharing the sights of my journey, I am also sharing glimpses of my inner landscape. (Get it? Clever, huh?!)

I lived in New York City for 10 years when my husband decided to join the Army. In my previous life I was a web editor. Now I'm a housewife. The past few years have been like my very own episode of Green Acres. I keep busy by dabbling in writing, design and a bunch of hobbies. I consider myself a connoisseur of kitsch.
