I find myself wondering what BGPs look like exactly.
Are they like Spanx that help you suck it up? You may look
polished on the outside, but you'll probably feel somewhat constricted.
Are they like granny panties that cover you up? Unsightly,
but functional, they hide your ugly spots, but in turn make you feel
grotesquely worn.
Perhaps they are like a thong? You may look hot, but they're a pain in the
butt.
What if they were a nice cotton blend – comfortable,
breathable – that hugged you in all the right places and gave a little just
where you needed? What if they had a pattern that no one knew was there but
you? What if they were your favorite pair of underwear instead of the dreaded
bottom pair in the drawer?
What if, instead of your nemesis, they became your best
friend?
What if, instead of representing keeping it together, they
came to represent taking care of yourself?
What's your favorite pair of underwear? Label those your
BGPs and wear them with joy.
(And don't forget to wash them from time to time!)
Mine are tiger striped so I can feel ferocious, like the world is my prey and I am going to take that mother down!

ReplyDeleteI think the metaphor refers to moving from the simple, almost unisex, non-distinct underwear of youth, to a more mature,less pubescent choice. Hence, a thong might work for those women felt trapped in their white "tidy whities", while more sturdy and practical garments might work for those who were just too naughty, too early...How is it that guys are only responsible for Big Boy Pants?
